Karuturi Global-Should Sebi Ban Client Funding By Stock Brokers?
CMP Rs 20
52 week Hi/Lo- Rs 38.70/ Rs 12.32
FY10 Revenues-Rs 24 crore
FY10 PAT- Rs 8 crore
FY10 EPS Rs 0.19
PE- 105
Market Cap-Rs 947 crore
FH11-Revenues Rs 10.21
FH11-PAT Rs 4.03 crore
FH11 EPS Rs 0.08 paise
The stock may never have reached a recent high of Rs 38.70 without collusion of stock brokers, who provided client funding on margins.
The question to be asked is, should stock brokers carry out the role of Banks? If not, then should the practice of lending cash against stocks as margins be stopped right away?
With all due respects to the management, in this whole volatility it is the small investor with no access to information who will lose out. The corporate business model does not change, but the investor goes bankrupt.
