Hi Vikram, ULIP is the mixcture of Term Plan & Mutual Fund It is better to invest Directly in Mutual Fund with view of good retruns. Like Reliance Vision (Large Cap Fund), Reliance Growth (Mid Cap Fund) these both funds are launched on 1st June, 1996. If any person have invested Rs. 1000 per month till date, in above mentioned each fund then its value today is around Rs. 18 Lakh & 20 Lakh respectively. against Investment of Rs..1 Lakh 60 Thousand in Each fund through SIP. you can check the nav history on reliance mutual fund web site or on moneycontrol.com. but in mutual fund you should stricly invest through SIP every month even market is up or down! and take separatly only term plan from LIC of India due to good claim settlment ration compared to other peers. For age of 25 Years person. If you take Risk cover of Rs. 5 Lakh for the period of 25 Years. Premium will be Rs.1450 only but no maturity benefit because it is term plan. Or pay Rs. 15000 Approx as an single premium. In addition, the plan is also backed by a good fund performance. Its equity fund has beaten its benchmark, S&P CNX Nifty, since its inception in June 2008. The equity fund comprises sectors like banking, refineries, prime movers, industrial construction and financial institutions, among others. Conclusion. Even though the plan has a stiff charge structure, it is flexible and a good buy if you keep a long-term investment horizon needed to reap benefits from it.
